WELCOME TO BARROWBURN FARM
The Deer Hut, Camping Barn and Campsite are open! However, In line with Northumberland's current covid restrictions (tier two- high) you must only book with members of your own household or support bubble. There is now a minimum booking of two nights in the deer hut and camping barn. The shower room and toilet in the camping barn are now in operation! Our check-out time is now 10am to allow time for extra cleaning and ventilation. (But campers can stay until midday). There are also fewer items in the properties to minimise potential contamination (EG. No books or toys/games and minimal crockery). We are limiting camping to a total of 12 customers at any one time to ensure plenty of space for social distancing.
From December arrivals will either be on a Friday or a Monday with at least 24 hours between guests. If you would like to book a longer stay please send us an e-mail.
We offer simple accommodation and camping in one of the most remote and rugged landscapes in northumberland.
use the tabs at the top of this page to explore which type of accommodation will suit you best.
our family took over the tenancy of barrowburn farm in november 2016, and have been living here and farming the land since then. the farm is owned by the m.o.d, and is an off-grid, hill sheep farm set in the heart of the northumberland national park. With the Cheviot hills all around and the river Coquet running through, we are well placed to explore some of northumberland's most wild and beautiful landscapes. Water to all our accommodation is filtered spring water, and electricity is generated by solar panels and a diesel generator.
All the hills surrounding our accommodation is 'open access' land, which means that you can wander around freely, and you are welcome to bring your dog and enjoy the hills responsibly.
If you plan your visit in june or early july, check out our sssi (Site of Special Scientific Interest) designated wild-flower meadows, which are some of the finest examples of their kind pretty much anywhere!
While you're here, enjoy our internationally recognised dark skies; giving stunning views of the night sky and milky-way.
We hope to welcome you soon!
