WELCOME TO BARROWBURN FARM
In line with government guidance, we re-opened on the 4th of july 2020. However, please note we are limiting the number of people in the camping barn to a maximum of eight and there is a minimum booking of two nights in the deer hut and camping barn. We are also installing a shower room (including a toilet!) in the camping barn which will be functioning from September. Due to this and other improvements we have made to the camping barn, we are no longer charging on a per person basis. Pricing is now for the whole Camping Barn regardless of the number of people staying in it. Our check-out time is now 10.00am to allow time for extra cleaning. There will also be fewer items in the properties to minimise potential contamination (EG. No books or toys/games and minimal crockery). We are limiting camping to a maximum of 12 people altogether.
From December arrivals will either be on a Friday or a Monday with at least 24 hours between guests.
We hope you will understand. Any queries please get in touch.
We look forward to hopefully seeing you soon!
We offer simple accommodation and camping in one of the most remote and rugged landscapes in northumberland.
use the tabs at the top of this page to explore which type of accommodation will suit you best.
our family took over the tenancy of barrowburn farm in november 2016, and have been living here and farming the land since then. the farm is owned by the m.o.d, and is an off-grid, hill sheep farm set in the heart of the northumberland national park. With the Cheviot hills all around and the river Coquet running through, we are well placed to explore some of northumberland's most wild and beautiful landscapes. Water to all our accommodation is filtered spring water, and electricity is generated by solar panels and a diesel generator.
All the hills surrounding our accommodation is 'open access' land, which means that you can wander around freely, and you are welcome to bring your dog and enjoy the hills responsibly.
If you plan your visit in june or early july, check out our sssi (Site of Special Scientific Interest) designated wild-flower meadows, which are some of the finest examples of their kind pretty much anywhere!
While you're here, enjoy our internationally recognised dark skies; giving stunning views of the night sky and milky-way.
We hope to welcome you soon!
